Sales Resume for the Lexus GX460

by jburney on April 30, 2010

Lexus announced today that the GX460 will resume its sales once again. This comes a little over two weeks after the car was deemed a safety risk by Consumer Reports Magazine.

According to a Petersburg Lexus dealer, Toyota moved quickly to repair the problem to get the Lexus GX460 back on the market. After all, it does look pretty bad when your SUV gets a “Do Not Buy” label. Especially when customer satisfaction and safety are both part of Lexus’ reputation!

Mark Templin, Lexus’ Group Vice President and General Manager, stated: “I’m happy to announce that an update for the 2010 GX 460 vehicle stability control system is now available at Lexus dealers nationwide. Our dealers began contacting customers yesterday offering to make arrangements to perform the update, and we expect them to get in touch with most GX owners within one week. With the revision now in place, we are also resuming sales of the 2010 GX 460. We are confident that the update will make the performance of the GX even better for our customers.”

Own a GX460? Apparently Toyota is proving how good their customer service really is and vows to contact all GX460 owners to set up a repair appointment. In addition to that, Toyota hopes you will enjoy a loaner car should you feel uncomfortable driving your GX460 until the update is finished. Thanks Toyota!

While sales of the GX have resumed, and the problem has been resolved, the Lexus brand is not without damage. Many car buyers in Virginia weighing a Lexus GX against an Acura MDX have increasingly sought Chantilly Acura dealers in the wake of the recall. With the GX now considered “safe” once again, hopefully Lexus can quickly repair any lingering damage from a public relations standpoint.
