Lexus just announced MSRP changes for the 2011 model year. New models are due to arrive in showrooms at Lexus Richmond and other dealers in late summer and early fall. In addition, Lexus also announced that all 2011 models will feature a standard brake override system.
Brake override systems are designed to automatically reduce engine power when both the brake pedal and the accelerator are applied simultaneously. More attention was given to this advanced safety feature in the aftermath of Toyota’s massive recalls concerning unintended acceleration. [click to continue…]

Lexus claims to be in the “pursuit of perfection.” Like all taglines, this can be a bit abstract, but when looking at how the Lexus LS has evolved over the years, it can easily be seen how that drive toward perfection has fueled changes to this particular model. Introduced in 1989, the Lexus LS was Toyota’s answer to established full-size luxury sedans such as the BMW 7 Series and Mercedes-Benz S-Class. Competing with those heavyweights was no small undertaking either, Car Dealer Connecticut says. [click to continue…]

When Consumer Reports issued a “Don’t Buy: Safety Risk” rating for the 2010 Lexus GX 460 SUV, it sparked yet another recall for the embattled automaker. However, Toyota found the solution and quickly remedied the problem, which has subsequently caused Consumer Reports to lift the “Don’t Buy” warning.
The reason for the Consumer Reports’ harsh warning was due to a lack of traction under sharp cornering. During testing at its track in East Haddam, Conn., the magazine reported the tail of the Lexus slid until the vehicle was almost sideways before the electronic stability control brought it under control. Lexus has shown several hybrid concept vehicles in recent years, and is even preparing to launch its latest production hybrid, the 2011 Lexus CT 200h. But with their latest hybrid concept, Lexus is seeing what they can two with two wheels instead of the usual four.
Powering the Lexus Hybrid Bicycle is a combination of good old fashioned pedal power and a 240W electric motor, which is supplied by a 25.9V lithium-ion battery, unlike those found at an auto dealer. Richmond thinks it’s just like the driving modes found on the all-new CT 200h, the Lexus Hybrid Bicycle allows the rider to choose between Eco or Power modes. There is even an energy regeneration function that helps recharge the battery by capturing kinetic energy generated under braking. [click to continue…]
