Lexus’ all-new CT 200h, marketed as a sporty hybrid alternative, is expected to do extremely well in the U.S. According to Brian Bolain, the national advertising and marketing manager for Lexus, about 1,000 CTs are expected to be sold here in the U.S. each month.
That’s a rather bold expectation. To put this goal into perspective, the sales of the BMW 1 Series, Audi A3 and Volvo C30 (which represent the vehicles most likely to be cross-shopped with the CT) rack up about 1,500 sales per month combined. [click to continue…]

Lexus will once again set a new benchmark for luxury automakers early next year, when it introduces the 2011 Lexus CT 200h: A premium compact that offers the company’s hallmark combination of unparalleled quality, sophistication and technology, along with a full hybrid powertrain for world-class fuel efficiency.
The heart of CT 200h is the Lexus Hybrid Drive and its advanced energy-management system, engineered specifically to provide an optimum mix of environmental and driving performance in Lexus vehicles. The result here is a car that can dash from 0-60 mph in 9.8 seconds while attaining an incredible 42 mpg from the EPA for its combined mileage rating. Just as importantly for the environment, the CT 200h can provide up to one mile of all-electric, emissions-free driving at speeds of up to 28 mph, and even when relying on its internal combustion powerplant, the car still generates significantly fewer NOx emissions than an equivalent diesel-engined rival. Yet it can also generate plenty of driving excitement, too. [click to continue…]

Infotainment and emergency assistance tech such as Sync, OnStar, and iDrive, are becoming increasingly popular options, and are encouraging more automakers to offer similar systems. One of the latest to offer such a system is Lexus, which launched its Enform system last year.
While Toyota’s luxury brand may be behind GM and Ford in offering such a system, Lexus is staying ahead of the curve by launching its very own iPhone app to go along with it. [click to continue…]

For the fourth consecutive year, Lexus and Scholastic—the international children’s publishing, education and media company—are joining forces to teach kids the importance of protecting the environment. Designed to reach middle and high school students, the Lexus Eco Challenge is offering $500,000 in grants and scholarships as prizes for developing new ways to deal with some of today’s toughest ecological concerns.
Registration for the program begins on Sept. 17, 2010, and is open to teams of 5-10 students (and one teacher adviser), with high school and middle school teams competing in separate groups. Each team is asked to pick an environmental issue that members feel is important, develop an action plan for addressing that issue, implement the plan and then report on the results. Those who take on a concern dealing with land/water have until Nov. 3, 2010, to submit their reports, while teams addressing air/climate issues have until Jan. 19, 2011—and note that the same team can enter projects for both of these initial challenges. When Lexus set out to build its first dedicated hybrid model, it would have been very easy to build a car that was little more than a fully-loaded Toyota Prius. However, the 2010 Lexus HS 250h is certainly much more than a Prius, which is a good thing. But despite being its own car, the HS 250h is still lacking in some areas.
According to the folks at Autoblog, who recently testing the Lexus HS 250h, it luckily doesn’t look anything like the Prius. Instead, Lexus decided to ditch the emphasis on efficiency and a minimum drag coefficient in favor of a more stylish exterior. Since it’s lacking the Prius’ teardrop shape, the HS 250h exudes a bit of sophistication from the outside. [click to continue…]

The Toyota Motor Company leveraged its deep commitment to customer satisfaction to deliver more segment-leading vehicles in the J.D. Power and Associates 2010 Initial Quality Study (IQS) than any other automaker in the U.S. The IQS, one of the industry’s most important gauges of vehicle quality, is based on input from tens of thousands of customers who are reporting on the quality of their cars and trucks after 90 days’ of ownership.

Lexus claims to be in the “pursuit of perfection.” Like all taglines, this can be a bit abstract, but when looking at how the Lexus LS has evolved over the years, it can easily be seen how that drive toward perfection has fueled changes to this particular model. Changes that have led to the brand’s success, Lexus Maryland says.
The Lexus LS has served as the luxury brand’s flagship model. Introduced in 1989, the Lexus LS was Toyota’s answer to established full-size luxury sedans such as the BMW 7 Series and Mercedes-Benz S-Class. Competing with those heavyweights was no small undertaking either, Car Dealer Connecticut says. [click to continue…]
