After rumors that the Lexus LF-A Roadster Concept would be produced for a 2014 debut, egmCarTech reports that Lexus has no plans to release a production version.
After the appearance of the Lexus LFA Concept, a roadster version of the concept car was shown at auto shows in 2008. The Lexus LFA Roadster Concept led to speculation that a drop-top version of the $375,000 supercar would eventually make its way into production.
But egmCarTech quotes Bill Kwong of Lexus Division Communication as stating the Lexus LFA Roadster was purely a concept car created as a styling exercise and there were no plans for it to have become a production vehicle.
When asked whether the Lexus GS sedan might get an optional V-8 engine in addition to the V-6 and hybrid powertrains, Kwong replied that escalating gas prices have created a decreased demand for the V-8 engine in the GS/Mid-luxury segment and there are no plans for offering it.
