Lexus GS-F to Get LFA’s V10?

by Lexus in the News on December 30, 2009

Greensburg Mercedes-Benz observed that Lexus chose to position itself more aggressively against high-performance models from BMW’s M division and Mercedes-Benz’s AMG unit by introducing the Lexus IS-F. As part of the new F high-performance lineup, the IS-F is based on the compact IS sedan and features a 416 horsepower 5.0-liter V8 that can shoot the car to 60 mph in a mere 4.6 seconds.

To further chip away at the German’s dominance in the premium performance sedan arena, Lexus will reportedly be giving the F treatment to the GS sedan as well. Reports also suggest that this new Lexus GS-F will feature the same 553 horsepower 4.8-liter V10 engine that powers the Lexus LFA supercar.

The design of the current Lexus GS is far from fresh, but thank to Virginia Lexus specials and other incentives, it remains a fairly well performing sedan at dealers across the country. A complete redesign will likely be executed before releasing a performance F model. However, if rumors turn out to be true, the BMW M5 and Audi S6 will soon have plenty more competition to contend with.
