While this year’s Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show—slated to open November 1 at the Las Vegas Convention Center—will once again feature a bevy of cool concepts and tuned-up rides that will never be seen on the street, Lexus is going to make certain that at least one sport sedan getting the full SEMA treatment makes it into production: The 2013 Lexus GS 350 F SPORT, which starts with the performance and style of the all-new GS and then delivers a jackpot of go-fast goodies and stylish upgrades.
“The all-new GS 350 with F SPORT package will offer our customers more agility and a sportier appearance,” said Mark Templin, Lexus group vice president and general manager. “The racing-inspired F SPORT components were precision engineered for this vehicle, providing quality performance without compromise.”
Like the recently introduced GS, the 2013 F SPORT model will pack a 306-hp 3.5-liter V6 mated to Lexus’ advanced six-speed sequential-shift automatic transmission with paddle shifters. The gearbox is based on the same one used in Lexus’ hi-po IS F sedan, and enables faster shifts, downshift throttle blips and four selectable driving modes: Eco, Normal, Sport S and, for the ultimate in GS performance, Sport S+. In addition, both rear- and all-wheel-drive powertrains are available.
The Lexus F SPORT setup then delivers:
- Aggressive 19-inch wheels (with staggered widths on RWD models)
- A specially tuned F SPORT Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS)
- Thicker anti-roll bars
- Improved bushings
- Larger front brakes with high-friction pads
- The automaker’s Variable Gear Ratio Steering system (RWD models only)
- A driver’s sport seat with 16-way power-adjustment functionality
- Model-specific interior design enhancements, including Cabernet Red leather appointments—an F SPORT exclusive
Added Templin: “The GS 350 with F SPORT Package will be a distinctive offering of luxury and excitement. With its dynamic handling, stopping power and true sporty feel, this F SPORT package will be sure to please our enthusiasts.”
